How to Navigate through the Platform

Dealing Section

This is the trading platform. The left hand side displays a short account summary showing account value (cash balance plus unrealised profit/loss), unrealised profit/loss on open positions and trading power.

Trading Power

Trading Power is the amount of funds in your account that are available to initiate new trades. The maximum Trading Power available is 80% of your cash balance.  As you open new positions, your Trading Power will reduce as your margin requirement increases.

In the event of an adverse market gap in volatile market conditions, non-guaranteed stops can sometimes be filled at a worse price than your specified level; this is know as ‘slippage’ or ‘gapping’. By setting your maximum Trading Power at 80%, a ‘Buffer Zone’ is created so that if slippage does occur, there is a very strong probability that your available funds will be able to cover any additional loss.

Many clients value this facility as it gives them peace of mind as a result of the extra protection on their account.

Trading Power

  • The Pending Orders section lists all orders that have triggered and are waiting to be filled.
  • The Open Positions section lists all current open positions, including their related trade size and running profit/loss.
  • The Open Orders section lists all independent opening orders or closing orders attached to an existing position (i.e. stop losses or limit profits).
  • You may amend, add and delete orders by clicking on the underlined section of the relevant product name in the Open Positions or by clicking on the order type in the Open Orders section.
  • Each section includes a question mark icon; clicking this will reveal more information on each particular section.

How to Open a Trade

To open a new trade, click on either the Buy or Sell button in the product list. This will open a new deal ticket; a limit profit and/or a stop can be attached to the market order by completing the relevant fields. Please note that you will be required to input the units away for the Limit Profit and Stop.  This can be done by typing in the value or by using the arrows.

How to Close or Partially Close a Trade

The quickest way to fully close a trade is to click the red box with a white cross icon to the right of the instrument name under Open Positions. This will open a pre-populated deal ticket. When you place this trade, you will fully close your trade.

To partially close a trade, simply open a new blank deal ticket by clicking on the relevant buy or sell button and then place a trade in the opposite direction to your current open position. Your open position will be reduced accordingly.

Opening Orders

Opening OrdersTo enter an Opening Order, simply click on the ‘+’ sign at the bottom of the deal ticket. In the Opening Orders section of the deal ticket, you may specify the size of the order, direction and type of order. The deal ticket offers a great deal of flexibility; you may create contingent Stops and Limits orders along with OCO (one-cancels-other) orders.

Market Information Box - the ‘iBox’

Every market comes with an information box that displays trading hours, sizes, margin requirements etc. This can be accessed via the ‘i’ icon to the left of the instrument name on the trading platform; this will launch in a new window.

Charts

You can access the charts by clicking on the icon to the left of the Market Information box – the chart will launch in a new window.

Account Management Section

If you would like to fund your account, this can be carried out in the Account Management – Manage Funds section. Alternatively you may click the ‘Manage Funds’ button on the top right hand side of the trading platform. You will be given multiple options to credit your account - card payments, bank transfers and cheque.  You will be able to register a payment card in order to enable further deposits and you will also be able to arrange payments back to your registered card.  Please note, we only levy a small charge for credit card deposits; we do not charge for crediting your account using a debit card.
