What is Spread Betting?
Spread Betting is an easy, tax-efficient alternative to traditional share investment.
You can make a profit by using your own judgment and knowledge to predict whether the price of a contract is going to go up or down, and trading on this movement. Because you don't actually buy the underlying asset (such as the share) there are a number of valuable benefits to trading in this way:
- The profit that you make is currently free from Irish Capital Gains Tax and Income Tax.
- Low initial outlay - the only cost being the Spread (the difference between buy and sell prices).
- You can still make a profit in falling markets - provided that you predicted the markets were going to fall rather than rise.
